Medford, OR – A Medford man was arrested on Monday night after driving recklessly at speeds of up to 100 mph on Highway 26 while his truck was running on its rims. Authorities say the driver, identified as 35-year-old Skylar Peplinski, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
At approximately 8:27 p.m., Hillsboro Police received multiple reports of a white pickup truck driving erratically near Brookwood Parkway. Witnesses stated the vehicle was speeding at dangerously high speeds and appeared to be traveling on its rims, with no tires left on the vehicle.
Shortly after, emergency callers reported that the truck had crashed. Police arrived on the scene shortly afterward and identified Peplinski as the driver. Upon conducting a field sobriety test, officers arrested Peplinski for driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII) and reckless driving.
Peplinski’s blood alcohol content was measured at .29%, nearly four times the legal limit of .08%. He was taken into custody and later transported to a nearby jail.
The incident highlights the dangers of impaired driving, as Peplinski’s reckless actions could have led to severe consequences. Authorities are reminding the public to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as it poses significant risks to both the driver and others on the road.
