MEDFORD, Ore. – A crash Tuesday morning on Riverside Avenue left two individuals with minor injuries. At approximately 9:20 a.m., Medford Police (MPD), Medford Fire Department, and Mercy Flights responded to the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Earhart Street following reports of the accident.

According to MPD, two vehicles were traveling northbound on Riverside Avenue, a one-way road with three lanes. A Dodge RAM pick-up truck was in the center lane, and a Toyota Matrix was positioned in the left lane.

The driver of the Dodge RAM failed to recognize the one-way restriction of the road and attempted to turn left from the center lane. In doing so, the pick-up truck collided with the Toyota Matrix. The impact caused the Toyota Matrix to roll over, though fortunately, both the driver of the Matrix and the passenger in the Dodge RAM only sustained minor injuries.

Medford Police Lieutenant Geoff Kirkpatrick explained the circumstances of the accident: β€œHe turns in front of the car next to him and because of certain angles and size differences, the vehicle ended up rolling over.”

Both the driver of the Toyota Matrix and the passenger of the Dodge RAM were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. At this time, police have stated that they do not suspect intoxication was a factor in the crash.

MPD issued a citation to the driver of the Dodge RAM for failing to follow traffic regulations. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
