The 27-year-old mother, Mary, who along with her 30-year-old husband, Alan, t0rtured and killed her 4-year-old son, Judah, pleaded guilty to neglect resulting in the death of a dependent and domestic battery to a child. Prosecutors said that the defendant will likely spend many years behind bars for her role in the brutal death of the 4-year-old boy. Prosecutors said the child was starved, beaten, bound with duct tape and kept in a dark basement without furniture. Mary is facing a maximum sentence of 40 years for the neglect resulting in death charge and up to six years on the domestic battery charge.
The mother told prosecutors that she abused her 4-year-old son and failed to intervene or contact authorities when her husband subjected the child to torturous punishments almost every day. Her husband was sentenced to 70 years in prison after pleading to multiple felonies, including murder. The mother also admitted that she was aware of the abuse her son was being subjected to and that the abuse ultimately caused his death. On Oct. 11, 2023, first responders arrived at Mary’s residence and found Judah’s bruised and bloodied n-ked body wrapped in a blanket inside a bedroom. According to the court documents, the mother called 911 and told the dispatcher that her husband had gotten angry and hurt Judah.
According to the court documents, the poor child was regularly physically and emotionally abused by his parents. Prosecutors said that the boy’s dad regularly beat and punished his son to the point of torture, locking him up in the family’s dark basement, naked, for days at a time over toilet training issues, and withholding food and water from the child. The boy’s mom regularly duct taped her son’s mouth.
According to the court documents, surveillance video from inside of the home showed Judah’s dad punching the little boy at least 13 times then picking him up by his neck, dropping him on the floor, and leaving him in the basement without furniture. Another video showed Judah’s mother punching her 4-year-old son at least 15 times. The poor child reportedly died from blunt force trauma to the head which caused massive bleeding on his brain. “The child’s injuries rank up there with one of the worst cases of blunt force trauma to the entire body that the doctor had ever seen in his 28-year career,” court records say.
