According to the police officials, the 25-year-old suspect, McKinley, was taken into custody and is now facing child abuse (cruelty toward child) charge after she severely injured 2-year-old boy. The boy’s mom, Stefanie, reportedly said that her son, Giovani, was injured so severely that part of his skuII needed to be removed.

The boy’s mother also told local news outlets that her son had to have part of his skuII removed because of bIeeding on the brain and that after initially spending weeks in the hospital, the boy had to have yet another surgery. The unfortunate mom also said that there is a long way to recovery and that her son shows signs of severe trauma.

The boy’s mom also launched a fundraiser to collect money for medical costs and recovery, which stated: “On Friday evening (9/1/2023) Giovani was life flighted to the children’s hospital after being harmed by the hands of a trusted caregiver. He is suffering from a brain bleed requiring emergency surgery. The swelling to his brain has required removal of part of his skill to reduce pressure. He will remian intubated and sedated while his brain recovers.

At this time, doctors are unsure what his recovery will look like. Prior to this, Giovana was a happy, healthy, energetic two year old. As you can imagine, his parents Anthony and Stefanie are completely distraught. Please consider donating to help with medical funds and other emergency expenses. We don’t want this sweet family to have to worry about anything other than getting their baby boy healthy again!”
