According to the court documents, the mother, later identified as 29-year-old Tatiyana, was sentenced to 3 years on probation after she was charged with the murder of her baby son. The woman won’t spend time in jail for her role in the death of her 2-month-old baby, Xaden, who reportedly died with multiple fractures in his skuII and object in his mouth. The young mother was sentenced earlier this month after pleading guilty to child abuse resulting in death, court records say.
The fatal incident occurred in Sept. 2020, but the mother was taken into custody one year later. She was initially charged with open murder and child abuse. The medical examiner told investigators that the baby’s death was a homicide resulting from blunt force trauma consistent with abuse. An autopsy revealed that the baby had 3 skuII fractures. The last skuII fracture was inflicted within 72 hours of his death, the medical examiner confirmed.
During the trial, the 29-year-old woman claimed that one of her other children inflicted the head injury on the baby. The mother reportedly took responsibility for her baby’s death even though she did not directly harmed the boy, court records say. During an interview with investigators, the mother reportedly said that when her baby was killed, she put him in his crib for a nap and fell asleep herself.
She later woke up to her oldest son calling for her in the baby’s room. When she went in the baby’s room, the 2-month-old baby was limp and warm. In a follow-up interview, the mother reportedly said that she woke up, heard her infant crying, and found her oldest child standing on top of the baby. The mother later said she wasn’t sure if the older child harmed her baby, but reportedly said it was a possibility.
