Medford, OR — A body was recovered from the Willamette River near the Morrison Bridge on Sunday afternoon, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. River patrol deputies responded to a call around noon after a body was reported floating in the water.

Sgt. Bryan White of the sheriff’s office stated that the discovery was made by a passerby who alerted authorities. Portland Fire & Rescue also assisted in the recovery operation, which took place in the river near the bridge, a popular area for both pedestrians and motorists.

At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been released, and the cause of death is under investigation. Authorities have not provided additional details, such as whether foul play is suspected or if the individual is believed to have drowned. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office will work to identify the body and determine the cause of death.

This incident marks the latest in a series of similar recoveries from the Willamette River in recent months, prompting local authorities to continue monitoring the situation and investigate any potential safety concerns along the riverfront.

Investigators are asking anyone with information related to the case to come forward. Updates will be provided as more details emerge.

The Morrison Bridge area, which spans the Willamette River and connects downtown Portland to the east side of the city, is a busy hub for both commuters and recreational users. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the body in the river or have additional information to contact the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

As of Sunday afternoon, the investigation remains ongoing.
