According to the court documents, the dad, later identified as 24-year-old Dylan, was sentenced to 50 years in prison after he killed his baby three years ago. Prosecutors said the father was sentenced after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and will be eligible for parole after serving at least 50% of his sentence. When investigators asked the man about the baby’s injuries, he reportedly told them that he shook the child many times and played with her legs in an attempt to gain a response from the newborn when she became unresponsive.

In September 2021, the father called the authorities about an unresponsive 2-month-old baby. The responding officers found the baby unresponsive on the floor and rushed her to the hospital. Unfortunately, the baby was later pronounced dead. Doctors told investigators that the newborn reportedly had visible injuries, including: large bruise on her cheek, bruise on her leg and bite marks on her forearm, left ankle, and below her knee.

During an interview with investigators, the 24-year-old dad reportedly said that his baby started to look off to the side and not respond when he snapped his fingers. But, when investigators asked the man about the baby’s injuries, he reportedly told them that he shook the child many times and played with her legs in an attempt to gain a response from the newborn when she became unresponsive.

The medical examiner told investigators that the 2-month-old baby died from blunt force trauma on her head, neck, torso, and extremities. Fractures were also found on the child’s rib, arm and shoulder. Bleeding and swelling of the brain, as well as spinal cord injury were also found on the baby, the medical examiner said. During a follow-up interview, the 24-year-old father reportedly admitted to shaking his baby out of frustration because she would not eat and would not stop crying.
