Eagle Point, OR – A 57-year-old Eagle Point resident was injured in a knife assault Sunday evening, leading to the arrest of a 65-year-old local man. The incident, which occurred around 5:38 p.m. on December 2, 2024, in the 300 block of Lorraine Avenue, was reportedly sparked by a dispute over money.

According to the Eagle Point Police Department, authorities responded to reports of a physical altercation involving a knife. When officers and deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene, they found the suspect, Anthony C. Holzhauer, being restrained by a nearby resident. The victim, identified as Webster M. Jackson, was found with multiple lacerations to his head, face, and chest. Jackson was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and later released.

Investigators determined that the confrontation between Jackson and Holzhauer escalated after a disagreement over financial matters. During the altercation, Holzhauer allegedly brandished a knife, inflicting the injuries on Jackson. Despite the assault, Jackson was able to subdue Holzhauer until neighbors intervened and alerted authorities.

Holzhauer was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon-Aggravated Assault, and Harassment. He is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail.

The Eagle Point Police Department has confirmed that there were no other individuals involved in the incident and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The case has been referred to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office for further review.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the details surrounding the altercation, and additional information may be released once the inquiry is complete.
