EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Police Department and Animal Services are asking for the public’s help following a violent dog attack that left a woman with serious injuries on January 11.

According to authorities, the incident occurred just after noon near the 2500 block of Tyler Street. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was walking in the area when she was attacked by two dogs. Police say the first dog, a Rottweiler mix, jumped on the woman’s back, biting her right shoulder and causing her to fall to the ground. While on the ground, the Rottweiler severely bit the victim’s right arm. A second dog, described as a brown Pitbull mix, then bit the woman on her left wrist.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where she was treated for several injuries, including a fractured ulna. She is expected to recover, but the attack left her severely shaken.

Eugene Animal Services responded to the scene and took custody of the Rottweiler mix. The dog was impounded and transferred to the Greenhill Humane Society. Authorities have classified the dog as a “Potentially Dangerous Dog Level 5,” in accordance with Eugene’s Animal Regulations.

The Rottweiler’s owner complied with the city’s regulations regarding potentially dangerous dogs, completing the necessary requirements on January 22.

However, the second dog, the brown Pitbull mix, remains at large. Animal Services reports that a woman was seen loading the dog into a Chevy Silverado pickup truck and driving away after the attack. A photo of the vehicle and its female driver has been shared in hopes of identifying the individual responsible for the dog’s whereabouts.

Eugene Animal Services and the Eugene Police Department are urging anyone with information about the location of the second dog to come forward. Tips can be reported to Animal Services at (541) 682-5748.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident and are focused on ensuring public safety and accountability for the attack.
