    Human Bean hosts annual breast cancer fundraiser, ‘Coffee for a Cure’

    This coming Friday marks the return of “Coffee for a Cure,” an annual breast cancer fundraiser at all Human Bean locations. All proceeds from October 23 goes toward local organizations that help care for and support breast cancer patients.

    “Coffee for a Cure has become a hugely successful and effective event, and we are delighted to help make a difference in the fight against breast cancer,” the Human Bean said in a statement.

    Friday’s fundraiser marks the 15th anniversary of Coffee for a Cure, and Human Bean says that it has raised more than $1.8 million to date.

    “In Oregon alone, between the Providence Foundation and Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, we have helped fund approximately 145 mammograms per year for a total of over 1600 mammograms to date,” Human Beans said. “This is in addition to funding follow-up care and ongoing patient support.”

    Funds go toward foundations that are local to each coffee stand location — helping support preventative scans for early detection, education, and supporting patients with expenses while they go through treatment.

    “The donated funds are allocated to the patients that need financial help the most,” Human Bean said. “Since starting Coffee for a Cure, fifteen years ago, we have lost a barista, a franchise owner, family, and friends to breast cancer.”
