Medford, OR – The Medford Fire Department responded swiftly to a reported electrical fire at Rogue Community College on Tuesday morning. Emergency crews were dispatched to the campus after a fire alarm was triggered on the second floor of one of the college buildings.

Upon arrival, firefighters quickly isolated the issue, which was determined to be an electrical malfunction. After conducting a thorough inspection of the area, no further hazards were found, and authorities confirmed that the situation was under control.

The college’s staff and students were evacuated as a precaution, but were later cleared to safely reenter the building once the scene was deemed secure.

In the course of the response, portions of 8th Street, located near the college, were temporarily closed to ensure the safety of emergency personnel and the public. The roadways have since been reopened.

The fire department’s swift action and quick resolution of the situation prevented any significant damage or injuries. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the electrical issue, though no foul play is suspected at this time.

Rogue Community College staff have expressed their gratitude to the Medford Fire Department for their rapid response, and operations at the college are expected to return to normal without further disruption.
