    Medford Firefighters Respond to Electrical Fire on Berrydale Avenue

    Medford, OR – Earlier today, emergency crews from Engine 14 responded to a report of an electrical fire on the exterior of a single-family home located in the 200 block of Berrydale Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters discovered that the homeowner had successfully contained the flames using a fire extinguisher before their arrival.

    The fire, which had started outside the home, appeared to have spread into the structure. Firefighters quickly assessed the damage and opened up the wall to check for any signs of hidden flames. What they found was significant charring on the sill plate and exposed copper wiring, indicating the fire had been quite intense.

    The firefighters promptly isolated the circuit breakers that had tripped, allowing them to restore power to the unaffected sections of the house. Fortunately, the fire was contained to a small area, and no one was injured in the incident. The homeowner was advised to contact a licensed electrician to replace the damaged wiring and to ensure that the home’s electrical system is safe.

    Fire officials have confirmed that the cause of the fire was accidental. However, they are using the incident as an important reminder to the public: when experiencing electrical issues, particularly if a breaker trips repeatedly, it is crucial to call a professional electrician for an inspection. Homeowners are urged not to ignore these warning signs and to leave the breaker off until repairs are made.

    The Medford Firefighters Local 824 reinforced the significance of electrical safety, emphasizing that such issues, if left unchecked, could lead to far more dangerous situations.
