Medford, OR – Medford police are inviting residents to safely dispose of unused, outdated and unwanted prescription medications during a free community drug take-back event scheduled for November 7.

The Medford Police Department announced that the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the City Hall parking lot at 411 W. 8th St. Residents should enter the parking lot from Ivy Street.

The event is intended to provide community members with an opportunity to dispose of prescription medications safely rather than leave unwanted drugs stored at home or throw them away improperly.

Medford police emphasized that the collection is strictly for prescription drug take-back. Document shredding services will not be available during the event.

The department encouraged residents to review the event description for additional information about which items will be accepted and the applicable disposal guidelines before arriving.

Proper disposal of unused medications can help prevent accidental ingestion, misuse and the diversion of prescription drugs. Keeping unwanted medications out of reach and disposing of them through appropriate collection programs can also help protect children, pets and other household members.

The November 7 event is free and open to community members looking for a safe way to get rid of unwanted prescription medications.
