Medford, Ore. — The Medford Police Department (MPD) recently hosted its annual “Drug Take Back & Rogue Shred” event, providing a valuable service to the local community. Held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the City Hall parking lot at 411 W 8th St, the event ran from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., offering a safe and secure opportunity for residents to dispose of unused prescription medications and shred sensitive documents.

Community members were encouraged to bring in outdated or unwanted prescription drugs for proper disposal, ensuring that these potentially harmful substances did not end up in the wrong hands or pollute local water sources. MPD clarified that needles and inhalers would not be accepted at the event, ensuring safety and compliance with handling procedures.

In addition to the drug take-back initiative, attendees were also able to bring personal or confidential documents for shredding. The police department set a generous limit of the equivalent of three garbage bags full of materials per person to be shredded. This service aimed to protect against identity theft and ensure that residents could safely dispose of old paperwork containing sensitive information.

The event was free and open to the public, drawing a strong turnout from the community. Residents appreciated the convenience and security provided by the MPD, which continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of Medford citizens. Through this event, the department not only helped remove dangerous prescription drugs from circulation but also supported efforts to safeguard personal privacy in an age of increasing digital security threats.

The “Drug Take Back & Rogue Shred” event is just one of several initiatives MPD has implemented to engage with the community and promote safety in the region. The department expressed its gratitude to those who participated and looks forward to future events designed to benefit Medford residents.
