According to the statement, the 37-year-old mother, Tina, and her 42-year-old husband, Stephen, were taken into custody and charged with multiple charges after their 2-month-old baby suffered permanent braln damage and was left fighting for his life. Hospital staff told investigators that the baby suffered multiple injuries, including: broken rlbs, broken hand and permanent braln damage.

Both the mother and the father were charged with child neglect resulting in great bodily harm. The father was also charged with aggravated child abuse or t0rture resulting in great bodily harm. Last month, 42-year-old Stephen called the authorities about an unresponsive 2-month-old baby, only identified as P.T.  The responding officers reportedly found the baby unconscious. The child was rushed to the hospital, where doctors were able to resuscitate him.

Medical staff then called police and told them that the baby suffered injuries that were consistent with regular physical abuse. Per reports, the 2-month-old baby suffered severe injuries, including two dozen rib fractures. The newborn’s right hand was also broken and the baby also suffered a brain bleed, doctors told investigators. According to the doctors, the brain injuries were likely to cause permanent damage, the hospital staff told prosecutors. During an initial interview with authorities, the baby’s father allegedly said that he found the baby unconscious while his wife was at work.

Both parents told investigators that they had no idea how their son had suffered his severe injuries. The 42-year-old father also told investigators that his wife worked two jobs and he was his son’s main babysitter. Stephen also said that his son may have suffered the injuries ‘because he was very fragiIe’. The baby’s mother told a child protective investigator that she works two jobs and Stephen often calls her with concerns as he believes their baby is too fragile and is hesitant to do anything with him.
