Police officials said the mother, later identified as Clarisa, was arrested and later charged with injury to a child after she reportedly severely injured her newborn baby by shaking her several times before she slammed the 2-month-old baby onto the changing table. Per reports, the mother then didn’t called for help or seek medical attention for her baby for several hours, but instead searched on the internet about her baby’s symptoms.

The unfortunate incident occurred on November 15, 2023, but Clarisa was taken into custody on Wednesday. Per reports, CPS employee called the authorities about a newborn baby who was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. When the baby was brought to the hospital, she was twitching and doctors determined that the injuries were suspicious. Doctors later revealed that the child suffered bIeeding in the area between the skuII and the braln.

The 2-month-old baby also had bruises to her torso and the area around her eye. The baby’s dad was unable to account for any of the victim’s injuries. When officers asked the baby’s mother about the injuries, she reportedly admitted to shaking her baby several times before she slammed the baby onto the changing table. The woman then didn’t seek medical attention for 6 hours. Instead of seeking medical attention, the mother performed internet searches for shaken baby syndrome.

According to the police officials, the 2-month-old baby reportedly underwent brain surgery and is currently requires nourishment through a feeding tube due to difficulties with swallowing. Police officials also believe that the mother was suffering from postpartum depression. Authorities reportedly uncovered messages between the mother and her husband, which stated: “I want nothing to do with [the baby] when you’re off,” “I can’t stand her anymore,” and “I honestly don’t want to pump [brast milk] anymore.”
