According to the court documents, the stepmom, later identified as Miranda, was sentenced to nearly 3 decades in prison for her role in the death of her 4-year-old stepson. Prosecutors claim the stepmom starved the little boy, Benjy, forced him to drink urlne and hand sanitizer. She was sentenced to 25 years behind bars after she was found guilty of injury to a child with serious bodily injury.

Prosecutors said the boy’s dad, Brandon, is facing the same charges. According to the court documents, the woman reportedly starved the little boy. She also forced the child to drink urlne and hand sanitizer. During the trial, prosecutors showed video of the 4-year-old child begging for food and water while he was crying and shaking uncontroIIably.

During the trial, prosecutors also presented messages between the defendant and her mom, in which the stepmom reportedly said that she starved the boy on purpose. The woman also placed locks on the kitchen cabinets.

During the trial, the stepmother denied the abuse and said the boy’s dad placed the locks. District attorney Gonzales released the following statement: “Death by starvation is horrible and unconscionable. This case paints a grim picture of neglect and abuse and highlights the urgency of justice for victimized children.’
