Medford, OR – A strong windstorm that swept through Coos County on Wednesday night left two law enforcement officers and an unidentified man injured after several trees were blown down near Bandon.

According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on Batson Lane, where two sheriff’s deputies and a Bandon police officer were conducting a routine DUII investigation. While the officers were standing outside their vehicles, the wind quickly intensified, causing several trees to fall in the area.

The fallen trees struck all three individuals, as well as damaging their vehicles. The man involved in the investigation was knocked unconscious, while the two officers sustained injuries. Despite their own injuries, the officers were able to move the man to safety and begin administering first aid.

Emergency medical teams arrived on the scene and treated all three individuals before transporting them to a local hospital for further care. While their injuries were significant, the sheriff’s office stated that all three were doing well and are expected to recover.

The windstorm caused substantial damage in the area, but authorities are relieved that the injuries were not more severe. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers posed by extreme weather events.
