According to the police officials, the girl’s mother, 42-year-old Kacey, and the girl’s stepdad, Edward, were both arrested and taken into custody after they reportedly beat and used different methods to punish and starve the 13-year-old child who was found walking alone in a parking lot. Both suspects were taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including: child abuse and child abuse resulting in substantial bodily harm.
In September 2023, the responding officers made contact with the 13-year-old child, who was not identified due to her age. The girl was walking alone in the parking lot when a woman saw her and called 911. The responding officers noticed that the child had visible burns on her palms and arms and multiple cuts on her hands and face.
During an interview with investigators, the child reportedly said that ‘she ran away from home because she was tired of getting punished. The victim also told investigators that she does not like having her hand on the stove. She also explained how her mother would hold her hand under hot water as punishment. The child also told authorities that her stepdad would also hit her. The girl also told investigators that her biological dad died several years ago and since then, she has been punished every day for doing the wrong thing or staring, L&C reported.
The victim also told investigators that her stepdad and her mom would hit her in the face because ‘she stared at them’. During an interview with investigators, the victim’s mom reportedly admitted to hitting the girl if she caught her staring at her husband. She also told investigators that she hit her daughter because the child ‘admitted to having a crush on her husband’.The mother also said ‘it bothered her to have another woman staring at her man and it made her want to attack.
