O’Brien, Ore. — An officer-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon in O’Brien is currently under investigation by the Oregon State Police (OSP), following a confrontation between a deputy and a wanted suspect.

According to OSP, the incident unfolded when a deputy with the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office located 33-year-old Clinten Anthony Robertson, who had an active felony warrant for his arrest, near the O’Brien Country Store. The deputy attempted to apprehend Robertson, but the suspect reportedly evaded the officer and, in the process, struck the deputy’s vehicle with his own.

During the ensuing confrontation, Robertson was struck by gunfire. He was promptly transported to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass, where he is currently receiving medical attention. The extent of his injuries has not been publicly disclosed.

In response to the shooting, the Oregon State Police has taken the lead on the investigation, with the Josephine County Major Crime Team activated to assist in determining the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are working to piece together the events that led to the shooting, which has left many questions still unanswered.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has refrained from releasing further details, citing the ongoing investigation. OSP has also confirmed that the deputy involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave, as is standard procedure in cases of officer-involved incidents.

The investigation is ongoing, and more information is expected to be released as authorities continue to gather evidence. The public is urged to remain patient as the investigation unfolds.

At this time, OSP is asking anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
