Curry County Seeks New Commissioner After Isaac Hodges Withdraws Appointment

Curry County, Or. – Curry County, Oregon, is once again in search of a new county commissioner following the withdrawal of Isaac Hodges from the position. Hodges, the mayor of Brookings, had been set to take over the role after Commissioner Brad Alcorn announced his resignation earlier this month. Alcorn’s resignation is set to take effect on May 1, and Hodges was expected to step into the position on May 2.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Hodges informed the county on Friday that he would no longer be assuming the position, leaving the Board of Commissioners with the task of finding a replacement.

In response to this, the county is actively encouraging interested candidates to apply for the open commissioner position. The application process is now underway, with forms available on the Curry County website. For those who prefer to submit a physical application, forms can also be picked up in person at the Board of Commissioners’ office, located at 94235 Moore St. in Gold Beach.

The deadline for submitting applications is fast approaching. Candidates must submit their applications by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22. Additionally, the Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting the following day, Wednesday, April 23, at 1 p.m. to determine the next steps in the selection process.

The search for a new county commissioner follows a period of transition within the county’s leadership. As the county prepares for a new chapter, it remains to be seen who will step forward to take on the important role of commissioner, guiding Curry County in the months and years ahead.
