Medford, OR – As Memorial Day weekend begins, Oregon drivers are seeing a modest increase in gas prices, though costs remain significantly lower compared to the same time in 2024.
According to data from GasBuddy, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Oregon has risen to $3.90, an increase of 5.3 cents from the previous week. Despite this uptick, prices are still nearly 44 cents cheaper than last year’s Memorial Day weekend. Across the state, gas prices vary widely, ranging from $3.39 to $4.59 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price for regular unleaded gas stands at $3.14 per gallon, while diesel fuel averages $3.50 per gallon.
The drop in prices comes as AAA projects a record number of travelers for the holiday weekend, with 45.1 million Americans expected to hit the road or take to the skies—the highest travel volume ever recorded for Memorial Day. In Oregon alone, approximately 617,000 residents are anticipated to travel, with about 506,000 opting to drive.
Popular destinations within the state include Bend, Eugene, Portland, and various coastal locations, all of which are expected to see increased visitor traffic.
With a higher volume of motorists on the road, AAA is urging drivers to prepare accordingly by checking their vehicles ahead of time and anticipating heavier-than-normal traffic conditions throughout the weekend.
