CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — The Eagle Point Police Department (EPPD) and Central Point Police Department (CPPD) are joining forces to offer a public education session aimed at helping residents identify and protect themselves from scams. The seminar, which will focus on current scam tactics and prevention strategies, will be held on February 27 at 5:00 p.m. in the Ashpole Center at Eagle Point City Hall, located at 17 S. Buchanan Ave.
Lieutenant Josh Abbott, a seasoned investigator with CPPD, will lead the presentation. Abbott, who currently oversees the department’s detective division, has extensive experience in scam prevention and has conducted numerous community outreach sessions on the topic. His presentation will address how residents can recognize common phone, email, and computer scams, as well as tips for avoiding falling victim to them.
The collaboration between the two police departments comes in response to a growing number of reports from local residents who have been targeted by scammers. The departments have received numerous calls and complaints regarding potential scams, with many victims unaware of the latest tactics being employed by fraudsters.
Both departments emphasize the importance of community awareness in combating scams, particularly as scammers continue to evolve their methods. The upcoming seminar will serve as an important resource for locals looking to safeguard themselves against fraud.
Residents are encouraged to attend this informative session to learn valuable tools and strategies to protect themselves and their personal information.
