CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. — A 31-year-old man was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly fired shots at two individuals and stole an ATV in Cave Junction.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at approximately 3:15 p.m. on the 5200 block of Dick George Road. Upon arriving, deputies learned that the suspect, identified as Blaine Case, had arrived at a private property and fired shots from a handgun toward two people. While the victims were unharmed, investigators discovered bullet holes in the home, confirming the threat of gunfire.

The two victims reported that Case fled the scene shortly after the incident. Law enforcement quickly launched a search for the suspect. Moments later, a resident on Holland Loop Road reported that an unknown male had stolen his ATV.

Authorities, including deputies and Oregon State Police, arrived at a residence on Holland Loop Road and located the stolen ATV on the property. After searching the area, they apprehended Case as he attempted to flee. He was transported to the Josephine County Jail, where he now faces multiple charges, including unlawful use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and two counts of first-degree attempted assault.

Sheriff’s deputies noted that while no one was injured during the incident, the situation could have been much worse. Investigations into the motive behind the shooting and theft are ongoing.
