Medford, OR — A new chapter in Medford’s leadership began on Wednesday night as Michael Zarosinski was sworn in as the city’s new mayor, succeeding Randy Sparacino, who presided over the ceremony. The event also marked the swearing-in of new city council members, with a focus on addressing key community concerns.

Former Mayor Sparacino, who served his final minutes in office as both the outgoing mayor and Jackson County commissioner, introduced Zarosinski as the new mayor. Zarosinski, who previously served on the Medford City Council and its planning committee, expressed his gratitude and readiness to take on the responsibilities of the office.

“This is a tremendous honor for me, and I’m ready to get to work,” Zarosinski said. He acknowledged that the city faces pressing challenges, particularly in areas such as homelessness, crime, and the need for more public assets and opportunities for young people. Zarosinski pledged to work towards solutions that address these issues and ensure Medford remains a livable city for all its residents.

Along with the mayor, four new city council members were also sworn in: Mike Kerlinger for Ward 1, John Quinn for Ward 2, Garrett West for Ward 3, and Kevin Keating for Ward 4. The new councilors are expected to play a key role in shaping the city’s policies and priorities under Zarosinski’s leadership.

In a moment of appreciation, City Manager Rob Field presented Sparacino with a commemorative placard honoring his service to the city. The gesture highlighted the contributions Sparacino made during his tenure as mayor and his continued commitment to the community.

With a fresh team at the helm, Medford’s residents can expect a renewed focus on tackling the city’s most pressing issues, as Zarosinski and the new council members begin their terms with a sense of purpose and dedication.
