The mother lived with her mom and her mom’s boyfriend inside the home, as well as her 5-year-old son. The mother reportedly said her name was “Yahweh,” which translates to god in Hebrew. Police officials said the mother, later identified as Jasmin, reportedly strangled her 13-year-old son, who was not identified due to his age, to death. The responding officers found the young victim on his bed after a family member called the authorities.

During an interview with investigators, the mother reportedly said that she strangled the boy because she wanted to spare him from the devil. She reportedly admitted to first responders and deputies on scene that she had choked her son and killed him, he said. An arrest affidavit cited the mother saying she wanted to spare her son from the devil.

Jasmin was taken into custody and later charged with premeditated first-degree murder, domestic battery by strangulation, child neglect, and aggravated child abuse. Police officials also said the mother strangeld her 13-year-old son with her 5-year-old son in the same room. He was in the top bunk. She had been choking him on the bed, authorities said.

The mother lived with her mom and her mom’s boyfriend inside the home, as well as her 5-year-old son. The mother reportedly said her name was “Yahweh,” which translates to god in Hebrew. When detectives asked her if she knew why she was being interviewed, she said: “she was being questioned due to her sending her son home.” The mother was asked to clarify what she meant by that and deputies said Jasmin said she spared him from the devil.
