ODOT Works to Clear Roadways Amid Winter Storms in Southern Oregon

Southern Oregon – The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has been working diligently to clear roadways and ensure safe driving conditions for residents and travelers in the wake of winter storms this week. The ongoing storm activity has created significant challenges for transportation officials as they focus on managing snow accumulation, icy roads, and hazardous conditions across the region.

In particular, the Siskiyou Pass and Greensprings areas have experienced power outages, disrupting the functionality of several TripCheck cameras. These cameras, which provide real-time updates on road conditions, have been temporarily offline due to the outages. ODOT has reported that utility crews are actively working to restore power to the affected areas, and the public is urged to stay informed through alternate sources while the cameras are down.

The department has emphasized the importance of caution on the roads, particularly in the southern and mountainous regions where conditions can change rapidly. Travelers are encouraged to check road conditions before heading out and to avoid unnecessary travel during storm events.

As utility crews continue to work, ODOT remains focused on restoring full service to TripCheck cameras to provide travelers with the most accurate and timely road information.
