GLENDALE, Ore. – A Wolf Creek man is in jail and facing a manslaughter charge after his 11-year-old daughter was killed in a motor vehicle crash Monday afternoon.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), deputies responded to the crash around 1:30 p.m., which occurred on Oregon Department of Forestry land bordering the 1200 block of Tunnel Road in Glendale.
DCSO says three juvenile girls were inside a Ford F250, driven by Ian Anthony Fleming, when the crash occurred. The pickup truck reportedly rolled multiple times down an embankment, ejecting all three girls.
Fleming escaped the pickup on his own and attempted to get medical care for his daughter who was seriously injured. Police say he borrowed another vehicle to drive her to an ambulance station located on Tunnel Road. Shortly after they arrived, paramedics declared the 11-year-old deceased.
DCSO says Fleming initially took off, but later returned to where the crash happened and was interviewed by detectives. They believe drugs and alcohol were factors in the crash.
The two other girls were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Fleming is currently in the Douglas County Jail facing second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
